The Poppy Appeal in Barnoldswick and District
Within the branch area, we are very fortunate in that we have two Poppy Appeals; Barnoldswick and Earby.
Although separate and both very well established appeals in there own right, both appeals and organisers work alongside and support each other throughout the year.
Earby Poppy Appeal
The Earby Poppy Appeal is run by Mrs Vera Cocker, who took up this role in 2010. A stalwart of the local community, Vera is well established within the appeal and ably co-ordinates her army of helpers, leading up to and through the remembrance period.
The Earby Poppy Shop is usually sited within the town council office on Victoria Road, Earby.
Barnoldswick Poppy Appeal
The honorary Poppy Appeal Organiser for Barnoldswick is Callum Hird. Callum took on the role in 2020, when Ann-Marie Benford stepped down from the role after 23 years. It is thanks to Ann-Marie's sterling work and dedication that the Barnoldswick appeal is so well established in the area and I am sure Callum will continue to build on Ann-Marie's work.
As Callum builds his poppy appeal team I am sure he would welcome assistance from both previous and new poppy volunteers
The Barnoldswick Poppy Appeal is usually based within the pop up shop in Frank Street, Barnoldswick.
If you would like to assist with either poppy appeal or find out more please contact Callum or Vera or visit the Poppy appeals own facebook page - 'Barnoldswick & Earby Poppy Appeals'
