Barnoldswick

Youth Membership is available to all young people between 12-18 years of age who support the work of The Royal British Legion.

Benefits include:

  • showing your support for the Armed Forces community
  • taking part in youth parades
  • training to be a Youth Standard Bearer and taking part in the National Youth Standard Bearer competition
  • the chance to hold the position of National Youth Standard Bearer (if you win the competition) and attend events such as the Festival of Remembrance, and
  • the chance to join a Legion band.

Youth membership is free until the age of 17 (after which full adult membership fees apply).

 

Youth Group Affiliation

Youth organisations such as the Guides, Scouts or the Cadet organisations (uniformed or not), can affiliate the whole group to a local Legion branch. Branch affiliation enables members to work together with youth organisations on fundraising or remembrance projects, and promotes mutual community support.

The Legion can help youth organisations with:

  • offering opportunities for The Duke of Edinburgh Award Programme
  • fundraising under the name of the youth organisation, and
  • offering a wealth of experience on military knowledge, and maybe even providing a lecturer from within the branch.

For branches, affiliating with youth organisations is a great way of raising awareness about the Legion, and encourages young people to take part in Legion activities.

The youth organisation could help with:

  • Poppy Appeal collecting
  • Branch Standard Bearer (adult and youth), and
  • Remembrance services and parades.

 Youth Affiliation Badges

 

The Royal British Legion has youth affiliation badges for youth organisations that are affiliated to the local Legion branches, however only uniformed organisations can wear them.
