The Royal British Legion was founded in June 1921

The Barnoldswick & District Branch is in the East Lancashire borough of Pendle and was formed on 27th March 2001, when Barnoldswick and Earby Branches amalgamated. The RBL in the area can trace it's history back to 1921.
Barnoldswick Branch was formed on 17th December 1921, approximately 6 months after the parent organisation. At the time Barnoldswick was within Yorkshire West Riding and as such was formed under South and West Yorkshire.
Earby Branch was formed later in 1924 and covered Earby and the villages of Sough, Kelbrook and Thornton.
Barnoldswick & District Branch was formed in 2002 when Barnoldswick and Earby Branches amalgamated.
