It is also the national Custodian of Remembrance and safeguards the Military Covenant between the nation and its Armed Forces. It is best known for the annual Poppy Appeal and its emblem the red poppy.

The County Committee  meets on the second Tuesday of every other month starting in February each year.

Next meeting: Tuesday, 9 December 2014 7PM

It is with great regret that Roy Charlesworth has had to resign from his position as County Chairman and also from the County Committee with immediate effect. The reason for his decison is below.

After much soul searching I have decided that I have to resign my position of County Chairman and also from all County Committee duties.

I have not taken this decision lightly but my wife’s health, both physical and mental are giving me great concern and my own health is starting to suffer.   Therefore I feel that I cannot give my full devotion to carrying out the duties involved.   I have enjoyed holding the position, albeit temporarily, but I feel I must stand down.  I shall not fulfil any duties that may still be outstanding.

This means that Gill Guy will be co-opted for the remainder and be elected at the AGM as she is the only nominee.

We wish Roy all the best for the future.
