PR (Poppy Appeal & Poppy People) Volunteer, Kent

 The Royal British Legion is the leading Armed Forces charity in the UK and we need a talented, creative and driven volunteer to be a crucial part of our Kent Poppy Appeal team. We are a small but dynamic team and need you to lead, co-ordinate and maximise PR opportunities across Kent.

The Legion is needed now more than ever and this is your opportunity to join us. You'll be working with us to hit our fundraising targets so we can support all generations of the Armed Forces and their families - today and for the rest of their lives.

What activities will I be involved in?

The lead-up to and during the Poppy Appeal period.

Poppy People (volunteers) recruitment - general and targeted.

Throughout the year to help encourage year round fundraising support.

Welfare activities - Veterans Outreach Support & RBL/Gateway Partnership.

 To deliver this PR across Kent:

You'll work with the County team, to develop a PR plan for the County that you can work towards throughout the year.

You'll help us to develop our portfolio of case studies to cater to media interest over the Poppy Appeal period and generate pro-active press stories to publicise fundraising and volunteering stories and highlight events, ensuring key messages are communicated.

 You'll co-ordinate the planning and delivery of PR for our volunteer recruitment campaign (Poppy People), building relationships with Kent's media and the Legion's national PR team.

You'll also be crucial in planning how we provide PR support to our large network of volunteers, and delivering this support during the Poppy Appeal period, ensuring key messages are communicated and media enquiries are handled.  Where Poppy Appeal
Organisers require specific help to find more local volunteers, you will help
generate targeted PR to help them achieve this.

 You'll be instrumental in developing a system to capture press-worthy stories during the Poppy Appeal period and throughout they year.  You will then plan and deliver Poppy
Appeal/Fundraising activity  press to communicate our successes.
