Membership of The Royal British Legion is available to all adults, not just those who are serving or have served in the HM Forces and we always welcome new members. Those aged 12 to 16 can become Youth Members Free Of Charge. Find your local BRANCH and contact the Membership Support Officer (County Secretary) to get details of the branch membership secretary then just fill in an application form and send it away. You can pay by cash or cheque but Direct Debit is the preferred payment method. That way you won't forget to renew your membership next year. If you like the social life, drop into your local CLUB
All members pay a membership fee which is currently £17 per year from 1st October 2016. Most branches have a small admin fee of a pound or two on top. Club fees vary from club to club.
You should be aware that the Legion year for those who joined before 1st April 2015 runs from the 1st October to 30th September. The Legion year for those joining the Legion after that date commences from the date they join.
A way to help the Legion is to tick the Gift Aid box. For every £1 of your affiliation fee and any donations, the Legion can claim an additional 25p from the Inland Revenue (HMRC). It costs you nothing. Simply tick the box.
The Royal British Legion plays an active role in the local community, and we rely on the help of our members to carry out our work in their local areas. There are many ways people can help and become involved and all are essential to our work for the serving and ex-Service community.
Check out our County News and Calendar of Events section for details of planned events.

Legion in the Community
To raise public awareness of what the Legion does in our community and encourage more people to get involved with the welfare, fundraising and membership activities of the Legion, we participate in various events and activities such as:
- County Shows
- Local Fetes/Fairs
- Open Evenings
- Armed Forces Day (previously Veterans Day)
- Attending Carnivals, Military Air Shows and Military Open Days.
If you have an event planned then let County Office know all about it. The 'Legion in the Community' (LIC) scheme is a perfect opportunity to publicise your Royal British Legion event.
