The Royal British Legion Needs You!
Do you have a few hours to spare each week? Would you like to make a difference to the lives of members of the Armed Forces community?
Our volunteers make a huge contribution to the Legion’s welfare and support work and we’re now recruiting for Advice and Information Volunteers to help run the Legion’s new Pop in centre in Southampton. We’ve recently been through a major transformation to bring our services even closer to the Armed Forces community and now need volunteers to help deliver support to those who need it most.
Volunteers will greet those who come into our new Pop In centre and help them find information through our website or sometimes signpost them to other relevant support services. In return you will gain valuable experience in working with the public, meeting and supporting individuals and, in some cases, experience of casework. Full training will be given and you will be part of a friendly, committed team. All reasonable expenses will be met.
Our new centre will offer advice and support for serving personnel, regular and reserve, veterans, and their families. It will also act as a gateway to the Legion for members of the general public.
From September 2014 the centre will be open Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm and will offer information on issues that really matter to those in the Armed Forces Community such as finances, housing, mobility and membership.
If you’d like to find out more about our volunteering opportunities, please contact Hannah Leppard at firstname.lastname@example.org
