Buckinghamshire County

The WW1 commemoration projects are still being formulated.  A grouping called Marlow WWI has been created in Marlow of which Marlow Branch is a member.  Funding questions have as yet not been resolved although initial priming has been provided by the Marlow Society.

The overall goal of Marlow WW1 is to commemorate and record the effects of the First World War (1914-1919) on the communities of Marlow Town, Marlow Bottom, Great Marlow, Little Marlow, Medmenham and Bisham. The aims are to:

  • Commemorate the contribution made by people from around Marlow in World War One
  • Explain the involvement of the people of "Marlow" in WW1 - at home and in battle
  • Provide a lasting record of the commemoration for future generations
  • Involve the whole community

Marlow WW1 sees its role as acting as a local umbrella organisation, co-ordinating and encouraging the activities of other local groups. It will focus attention and provide the link to county and national programmes and initiatives.

Shaun Murphy is the contact for the Branch. Email the County Secretary  for further information.
