The EC 135 helicopter of the National Police Helicopter Unit moved from Wattisham to a base in Essex late in 2014 and B Flight 22 Squadron RAF, disbanded in July 2015.
Air Sea Rescue services for the Channel and North Sea are now provided by a civilian contractor flying from Manston, Kent.
With the withdrawal from Afghanistan, local aircraft spotters no longer see the occasional Antonov heavy lift aircraft ferrying Apaches to/from that theatre, but we have seen visiting Hercules, Galaxy and USMC Osprey, presumably participating in exercises in the Thetford Training Area.
Plus in Summer, a flyby by the remaining air-worthy Vulcan and Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane of the Battle of Britain Flight en route to air displays.
