WE'VE DONE IT AGAIN!!! BRANCH POPPY APPEAL REACHES NEW HEIGHTS AND CONTINUES TO BREAK ALL RECORDS !!!
The final figure for the Poppy Appeal year ended 30th September 2017 was £104,172 compared with £93,249 the previous year. However, the Appeal which started on 1st October 2017 and ended on 30th September 2018 is £116,102!!!
TOTAL in 11 years as at 30th September 2018 = £931,898 confirmed. This is just £68,102 short of the Branch raising £1million and in normal circumstances will be reached by the end of 2018.
CARLISLE AND STANWIX BRANCH POPPY APPEAL
Since our formation in 2006, our Poppy Appeal total has increased year on year, from £55,194 in our first year until £116,102 in the year ended 30th September 2018. Our total over 11 years has reached over £931,898; it is expected that soon after the start of the 2018 appeal, the Branch total will have exceeded the ONE MILLION POUNDS BARRIER!!!
A BIG THANK YOU to all those who helped or contributed in any way. Thank you to the distributors of the trays and cololection tins to almost 900 outlets and then went back round to collect them up again. Thank you to those who helped with the counting and banking of the money. Thank you to the numerous Churches, Clubs, Pubs, Schools and Retail Shops that took the trays and collection tins and held them on display for almost 2 weeks. Thank you to the volunteers and supporters who manned the 15 Major stores and outlets for 2 weeks. BUT THE BIGGEST THANKS GOES TO OUR POPPY APPEAL ORGANISERS, COLIN AND MARGARET WADSWORTH WHO'S LIVES REVOLVE ROUND THE POPPY APPEAL FOR MOST OF THE YEAR. Their engagement and commitment is "Second to none".

We are particularly aware that many of our collectors are now well over 70 years old, some are in their 90's!! We therefore need a younger tranch of people to become involved next year. If you can offer help for the appeal that starts again on 27th October 2018, please contact Colin or Margaret as above.

POPPY SHOP IN THE LANES
With the help of the management of The Lanes Shopping Centre, the Branch establishes a Poppy Shop in The Lanes during the Poppy Appeal. This is a retail outlet for Poppy Shop Items normally only available on-line or from the Poppy Shop Catalogue. We sell in the region of £9,000 worth of goods each year and take donations of almost £6000.
